# Ledger documentation

> Build a sandbox credit billing flow with Ledger and Stripe.

Ledger lets your application publish plans, define credit costs for features, create customers, and enforce usage limits. Each organization connects its own Stripe test account for plan and credit-pack payments.

This release supports **sandbox billing with Stripe test mode only**. The Ledger API key identifies your organization and must stay on your application server.

## Start here

1. [Integrate Ledger](https://docs.integrateledger.com/quickstart.md) to publish a catalog and run your first credit check.
2. [Authenticate requests](https://docs.integrateledger.com/authentication.md) from your backend.
3. Read [Credits and usage](https://docs.integrateledger.com/credits.md) before enforcing a limit in your app.
4. Open the **API reference** tab for request and response schemas.

## What Ledger manages

* A catalog of monthly plans, features, and credit packs.
* Checkout sessions in your connected Stripe test account.
* Monthly and one-time credit allocations after successful payment.
* Credit checks and idempotent usage tracking.

Your app still decides when a feature runs and how to handle a denied request. Ledger returns the current balance and records usage when your backend calls the API.

Ledger uses Google sign-in to identify dashboard users by their verified email address. Read the [privacy policy](https://docs.integrateledger.com/privacy.md) for how Ledger handles account and sandbox billing information.
